I was also very saddened by the news. Jim has worker hard to pull all of this together for years. I'm still amazed with some of the old flyers and brochures that he's managed to locate for each magazine. Wishing a speedy recovery.

I'm heading to the Hilton Head Concours in November (it's officially on!). I wrote last year's article, so I'll take photos and put together another article and post it here. We can at least keep some news flowing until Jim gets back on his feet.

Steve.

:'( This is very sad news, I enjoyed seeing every issue. I greatly appreciate everything Jim has done. Hopefully he will see the light and realize not to let other peoples lives effect your own. Life is short and we are all on a mission, some for the good, some for the bad, unfortunately.

I received my last copy of Microcar News today. As I read the editorial I was saddened by the story and the reason for the suspended publishing of the voice of our hobby. I have enjoyed the publication from its inception and always look forward to finding it in my mail box.
I am sure that the membership along with my self wish Jim all the best in the future and thank him for
all he has done for the benifit of the Microcar hobby.
Jim- hopefully in the not to distant future you will find the time and energy to revive our favorite magazine.
Thank You!

Microcars Discussion / BMW 600 question / id
« Last post by friday on September 10, 2016, 05:35:29 AM »
Hi
new guy I dont own a micro car but Im looking for info on the BMW 600 / 700 engines

can anyone identify the cylinder and head combo in the pic ?
the cyl has 12 fin which Im guessing is 600
the head has 11 fins which could be either 600 or 700

do the 600 , 700 heads share the same head bolt pattern ?
does anyone know the centre to centre distance from push rod to cylinder ?
is the 600 engine cylinder layout / pattern the same as the R67 ? (re:push rod to cylinder , cyl bolt pattern etc)

the centre to centre of the push rods to piston in the pic is 2-5/16", Ive measured some cases today.
the cases are bored to about 3-1/16" .  this bike was supposedly built in 1959 , and once owned by steve mcqueen
...no its not mine so Im researching the parts
Thank you ,  Paris

Microcars Discussion / Re: Isetta 300, feels like fuel starving, HELP
« Last post by rvboltz on August 31, 2016, 11:01:20 AM »
Try pulling back on the choke lever next time you floor it and see if that does anything to "fix" the problem.
If it does, then you most likely have a bit of grit or something in the main jet and it will have to be cleaned out.
Oddly enough this seems to happen a lot after rebuilding everything.

I'll try the choke, Cleaned the jets, Have new tank with av fuel and no pre filter.
Funny how at full throttle, stumbles, but at 3/4 throttle works fine, with good power
Thanks, working on it toady

Also make sure you have a fairly full tank of fuel.
My Isetta would never run as well flat out when it was on Reserve as the gravity-feed system could not keep up with the demand.

And last: do you have any kind of pre-filter installed in the feed line?  If so, get rid of it.
